Camping at Krause Springs

Last weekend we decided to make the most of the amazing spring weather and go camping! We drove to the west side of town to Krause Springs in Spicewood. The privately owned park has 32 natural springs on it, a beautiful man-made, spring-fed pool, some pretty falls, and a big ol' swimming hole complete with a rope swing.

The spring was busy, but not too overcrowded and we thought the swimming was better than Hamilton Pool.

The water was icy cold but still doable on an 85-90 degree day and we enjoyed the people watching. Someone behind us even played the ukelele and sang while we all sunned on the rocks.

I liked swimming in the man-made pool best- very refreshing and not so gross feeling on the feet.
We enjoyed walking around the property at dusk- it was very peaceful despite how many campers crowd onto the grounds.

Here was our cozy little spot on the hillside:

It was so nice that the burn ban is lifted and we could build a campfire with just a rock ring. We went all out and roasted franks and made s'mores. It was such a great time to recharge and enjoy the last few perfect days of the best season in Texas.

Our recommendation: go for a day trip to the springs but go camping somewhere more peaceful, quiet, and less expensive!
